Business License

General Business License

All companies and individuals conducting business in Berthoud must have a business license, unless the business holds a different class of license issued by the Town of Berthoud.  Application Fee: $20

Contractor License

Contractors must be licensed with the Town of Berthoud prior to applying for a building permit. Please visit the Building Department Page for more information. 

Arborist License

Any company or individual wishing to conduct business for the purpose of trimming or otherwise maintaining trees in Berthoud.  Application Fee: $45

Dairy Delivery License

Any company or individual wishing to conduct business for the purpose of delivering dairy products in Berthoud. Application Fee: $25

Mobile Home License

Any company or individual wishing to conduct business for the purpose of maintaining and renting mobile home park spaces in Berthoud.  There may be other requirements that need to be met in the Development Code.  Application Fee: $5 per space

Solicitor License

Any company or individual wishing to conduct business for the purpose of soliciting sales in Berthoud.  If you intend to enter private property for the unsolicited sale/advertising of products/ services must first obtain a solicitor permit.  Application Fee: $250 Must have $500 surety bond to submit with your application.  A surety bond can typically be purchased through your liability insurance provider.   

Vendor/Food Truck License

Any company or individual wishing to conduct business for the purpose of vending or operating a food truck in Berthoud. A vendor or food truck license is not required if the business is participating in a larger event that has otherwise been approved by the Town. Application Fee: $50

Waste Management License 

Any company or individual wishing to conduct business for the purpose of providing waste disposal in Berthoud. Application Fee: $250

You can apply for a Business License by visiting our Licensing Portal Webpage. New users will be required to create an account before submitting a new license application. Please ensure that you apply for the appropriate type of license to avoid any delays in processing. Business License applications must be submitted online using the web portal.  

The Town has been working to establish a business licensing program since the end of 2023.  Much of the work has been in establishing an online portal to help businesses more easily apply for a license.  The general business license replaces the requirement for businesses to obtain a local sales tax license.  Businesses must still obtain a State of Colorado sales tax license if it is applicable to the business.  Sales tax must still be collected and remitted to the state in accordance with law.
