The Lighting Contest is Now Closed, and Winners Have Been Selected

Open to all areas and neighborhoods within Berthoud town limits that demonstrate some form of exterior holiday lighting, this contest will bestow honors and awards to the most festive exterior holiday decorations in our community.

2025 Contest Information

Entries open on October 30, 2025. You can sign up before you've untangled a tangled strand or replaced a single bulb! 

Entries must be received by Sunday, December 7th to be eligible for voting.
A link to the map and voting page will be available starting December 11th at 5:00 PM. 
Paper lists of all the entries with the addresses organized in an easy-to-drive order will be available at the front desk of Town Hall and the Recreation Center on December 11th.

Beginning Thursday, December 11th, all entries will be listed on our Holiday Lights Contest Voting Page where residents may vote through Tuesday, December 21st to determine the "People's Choice" and "Brightest Berthoud Business" winners. Selected Town employee judges will vote on entered homes to select the winners of the remaining categories on December 21. Winners will be contacted and have a festive yard sign placed in their front yard the week of December 22nd.
All participants will be issued a yard sign announcing their participation in the lighting contest. 
All Participant signs will be picked up by January 5th.

Contest Rules

• Contest is free to enter.
• Entries must be located within Berthoud Town limits and only the owner or occupant of the property may enter.
• You must be at least 18 years old to enter.
• Entries must be received by Monday, December 8th to be eligible for voting.
• Only decorations visible from the roadway will be subject to "TOB Staff Choice" judging.
• Town Staff judging criteria is based on: Creativity, Most Spirit, and Scale of Lights.
• Homes are limited to winning once every three years. (If you won in our first year, you're now eligible to win again!)
• Only one winner per contest category.
• Town of Berthoud employees/elected officials are excluded from entering the contest.
• Contest judges will determine which category is most appropriate for each entry.
• Winners will be contacted by Town staff on December 22.
• Prizes not picked up 30 days from the date of award will be forfeited.

Contest Categories & Prizes

• People's Choice: $100 gift card to the Berthoud business of your choice. (Based on community votes)
• Best Traditional: $100 gift card to the Berthoud business of your choice. (Based on Town of Berthoud staff judge choices)
• Best Use of Inflatables: $100 gift card to the Berthoud business of your choice. (Based on Town of Berthoud staff judge choices)
• Most Magnificent Miniature (A Category for Those Who Live in Townhomes and Apartments): $100 gift card to the Berthoud business of your choice. (Based on Town of Berthoud staff judge choices)
• Brightest Berthoud Business:  Choice of lunch for your office or the sponsorship of one (1) Recreation sports team with jerseys. - winner picks the season. (Based on community votes)
• Lucky Voter: One lucky voter will be chosen randomly, from those who opt in, to win a $50 gift card to the Berthoud Business of their choice.
