West Nile Virus (WNV) has been detected in Berthoud for a fourth consecutive week, however the Vector Index (VI) which measures the level of risk of WNV in an area has dropped to .32. A VI above 0.5 predicts cases of WNV will occur in humans and a VI above 1.0 is strongly correlated with increased human cases. As long as WNV is detected in the area, it is important to protect yourself with the 4 Ds.
