Comprehensive Plan

The Town of Berthoud is in the process of updating our Comprehensive Plan that will help us steer our future and create the best possible place to live, work and play. Input for the plan update will be sought from local residents, businesses, property owners and community leaders.  An advisory committee consisting of Town Board and Planning Commission members will coordinate the planning effort with technical assistance from Town staff and a local consulting team. The final product - the 2021 Berthoud Comprehensive Plan - will provide the Town of Berthoud with a guide for accomplishing community planning objectives for many years to come.

 Planning Department Mission Statement

The Planning staff is responsible for creating, reviewing, and administering plans and studies that provide a framework for the future of Berthoud. Staff pursues this through the development of comprehensive plans and specialized planning studies, with interaction from local citizens, stakeholders, and elected officials. Staff also performs the day-to-day functions which promote the desirable community envisioned by those plans and studies. These functions include reviewing applications, managing development review requests, pursuing code violations, reviewing zoning text and map amendments, administering irrigation and water dedication requirements, and serving as Staff to the Planning Commission and Town Board on development related matters.
