Important Town Projects Kick Off Construction
The Town of Berthoud has several exciting parks and recreation projects in the works this summer that all residents and visitors will be able to enjoy.
Roberts Lake Pier
This iconic 2.35-acre lake is the most used in Town for fishing and wildlife viewing. The pier on the west shoreline—a popular fishing spot—will undergo a major renovation, increasing the size and making the pier ADA compliant, allowing all visitors to have a better fishing experience. In addition, a permanent bench will be added to the north shoreline fishing location.
The lake’s aerators—used to circulate the oxygen and nutrients crucial for maintaining a healthy fish habitat—will also be replaced and upgraded, along with the building that houses them. This will ensure quality fishing in the area for years to come.
The Berthoud Reservoir Open Space is Berthoud’s newest lake and natural area. New amenities such as a loop trail, parking area, restrooms, covered picnic areas and a natural play area will make this a comfortable destination for families to visit. Additionally, large, flat bouldering stones will be placed around the lake and an ADA compliant floating dock may be installed (pending grant funding acceptance) to improve fishing access. The 35-acre lake will also be open to small non-motorized watercrafts, like kayaks and stand-up paddle boards.
Ellen Buyan Bein Park Playground
This five-acre park hosts a variety of programmed recreation sports in the evenings and weekends, and features a soft surface loop trail and playground. The playground area will undergo major renovations, including new play equipment and ground material. It will be ADA compliant and designed for children ages 2-12.
County Road 7 Improvements
The Town will be making road improvements to County Road 7 this summer. Dehn Construction will be completing the work, which includes pavement milling and overlay treatments to the road along with drainage improvements. The schedule for this project is still being determined.
