The Berthoud Public Works Department oversees the management and maintenance of the facility, transportation, and utility services provided by the town. These services range from providing drinking water to street maintenance to storm water drainage. The department also coordinates with outside agencies such as Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and Little Thompson Water District. The department also provides engineering and project management for town projects.
The Public Works Department consists of:
- Engineering Division - Responsible for overseeing the design, planning, and project management for Public Works projects.Engineering also provides support to the Community Development Department
- Street/Drainage Division - Maintains streets, curb, gutter, sidewalks, and storm drains within Berthoud’s responsibility.Streets provides snow removal and facility maintenance for the town.
- Water Division - Responsible for delivering safe drinking water to the town’s water customers.The Water Department also coordinates the utility locate program and maintains the fire hydrant system.
- Waste Water Division - The Waste Water Department manages the water treatment of used water for the town.It is responsible for assuring that all water used within the town’s system meets clean water requirements before it is returned to the natural water flow.
