Residential permits and fees cover the construction of a new home, remodeling, building enhancements such as decks, and basement finishes, and major repair projects such as roof replacement. Building permits may be obtained from Town Hall, or by faxing to 970-532-0640, Attention: Sue Bowles, or a downloadable copy of the application form can be accessed by clicking here.
The applicable building fees vary depending on the specific project. A Residential Permit Fee Worksheet is available for download. Please feel free to call the Building Department with questions.
After all required information is provided, the building Department works to approve or ask for clarifications within 10 business days. When approved, permit fees may be paid for in person with check or cash, or with a credit card. To pay by credit card over the phone, contact Sue Bowles at 970-344-5808
It is important to have your project reviewed and a permit issued prior to purchasing of materials. Part of the permit fee includes town use taxes. Providing your permit document to the supplier of your materials will avoid paying those taxes twice. For further information on Use Tax on Building Permits, click here.

The Town has adopted the 2012 International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC), the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code, and the 2014 National Electrical Code.
