And a 2015 study by WalletHub ranked Colorado has having the 2nd best school system in the U.S.

Thompson School District

The Thompson School District is the 17th largest school district in Colorado, encompassing 362 square miles, and is the largest employer in Loveland and Berthoud. We are a Pre-K through 12th grade district with 13 early childhood centers, 20 elementary schools, five middle schools, five high schools and two charter schools. District enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year is 16,145 students. Our district includes the cities of Loveland, Berthoud and the southern part of Fort Collins as well as parts of Larimer, Weld and Boulder counties. Our schools offer a number of educational options including: International Baccalaureate (IB) and pre-IB programs; a Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) focus at one high school and two elementary schools; the Loveland area Integrated School of the Arts (LISA), K-12; and Advanced Placement programs. We are also home to the Loveland/Berthoud Enrichment Access Program (LEAP), which supports parents who choose to school their children at home or outside a public setting. The district's TCAP scores are consistently above state averages. The district-wide graduating class of 2014 earned over $16.3 million in scholarships.

Berthoud High School

Stellar Points and Special Offerings: STEM has been a focus for us and we are continuing to increase our offerings and refine our great STEM program, Project Lead the Way program, increasing Concurrent Enrollment courses like AP Biology, College Comp1 and 2, (new) Fire Science,(new) Math 112, and (bi-annually)Teacher Cadet program. Also we have two unique offerings called Night Astronomy at the Little Thompson Observatory located on site and Thompson River Project. Our No Place for Hate, Peer Support Counselors and Peer Buddy programs are very successful and our students represent our school and community in amazing ways. Our Robotics program rivals any in the world as they have competed and won at the State, National and World levels while being one of the smallest high schools in those competitions.
