Public Works - Water
The Water Department personnel are responsible for the proper operation of the treatment plant in order to comply with all Federal Safe Drinking Water Standards, State and EPA Regulations. Although the Utility Billing Department actually bills you for the water and sewer services the Town provides, the Water Department staff provide the service and maintenance.
The Water Treatment plant was built in 1935 and expanded in 1999. This expansion helped to increase plant capacity. The plant is made up of one rapid mix chamber, two two-stage flocculation basins, two clariflocculation basins, and one post clarification activitated carbon chamber, and four multi-media filters. The plant can treat up to 4 million gallons per day. The treated water is then pumped into the distribution system and to a 3 million gallon storage tank on the northwest side of Town.
